Anti-trafficking and modern slavery fundraising ball with a cocktail reception, three-course dinner, dancing and live entertainment.
The Tumbling Lassie Ball returns to The Stables at Prestonfield House on Saturday 14 November, this year as The Enchanted Ball. It's grown into the largest anti-trafficking and modern slavery fundraising event in Scotland, with all the proceeds going to International Justice Mission (IJM) and SOHTIS (Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland).
The night is held in the grounds of Prestonfield House, and the theme this year is The Enchanted Ball, which sets the tone for an evening of dancing, music and fun. It sits alongside Tumbling Lassie, a Scottish musical that brings to life a largely forgotten but profoundly significant moment in Scottish legal history: the Court of Session ruling that 'we have no slaves in Scotland and mothers cannot sell their bairns'. The show uses that ruling to set the reality that slavery still exists in Scotland today.
The project is run by SOHTIS, an organisation that promotes awareness of human trafficking and the work done to combat it. The Ball is their main fundraising event, so the night does double duty as a party and a way to support that work.
