Free drop-in singing session for over-16s to learn simple songs and harmonies by ear, themed around Winter.
The Song Circle are back at The Salisbury Centre on Sunday 29 November, with this session themed around Winter. It's a drop-in singing group, so you don't need to book a place or commit to a course — you just turn up and join in.
The way it works is pretty straightforward: you'll learn beautiful, simple songs and harmonies taught by ear, with no prior music or singing experience required. There's no sheet music to follow, so you don't need to read a note to get involved. The group is part of the Natural Voice Network, and alongside these regular sessions they also run singing walks.
Each session is built around a season, and this one draws on songs from all over the world, honouring the songwriters, the stories and the origins behind each one. It's a welcoming setup, and because it's a drop-in, it's as easy to join as it is to come back for the next one. The group is open to over-16s only.

One thing to keep in mind is that the room is a phone-free space: no recordings, photos or videos during the session, and the song list is sent out by email afterwards so you can keep singing on your own. The session runs from 3pm to 5pm in The Art Room at The Salisbury Centre, 2 Salisbury Road, Edinburgh EH16 5AB, and it's free to attend.
