A workshop led by The Sixteen to master vocal strength, warm-ups and nutritional tips for a healthy voice.
The Sixteen are running a workshop for singers at the Greyfriars Charteris Centre on Sunday 18 October, and it's a bit different from their usual concerts. Instead of taking the stage to perform, they're opening up the practical side of how they work. The session is led by three of their own: bass Eamonn Dougan and sopranos Julie Cooper and Charlotte Mobbs.
The whole thing is built around how they keep their voices in top condition while on the road. The Sixteen are currently on their Choral Pilgrimage tour, and this workshop pulls back the curtain on how they manage that over the miles of travel and back-to-back singing. The focus is on vocal strength, the essential warm-ups they use to get ready, and the role nutrition plays in keeping a voice healthy when you're touring.
It's a full day, running from 10:30am to 4:30pm, with doors opening at 10:15am, so you'll want to clear your Sunday. It's held in Binks Hall, inside the Greyfriars Charteris Centre at 138/140 Pleasance, EH8 9RR. The centre itself is a community hub on the Pleasance, housed within Greyfriars Kirk and run as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, with one large hall, two medium rooms, and a meeting room used by local individuals, community groups, and businesses.
