The Rising, the UK's number one tribute to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, bring their show-stopping set to The Voodoo Rooms.
The Rising are playing The Voodoo Rooms on Saturday 17 October, bringing their Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tribute to Edinburgh. They're based in central Scotland, so they're not coming from far to get here.
What they do is pretty straightforward: they work through nearly five decades of Springsteen's catalogue, from Greetings From Asbury Park right through to his 2019 release Western Stars. That's a long stretch of ground to cover in one night, and it means the set pulls from the early, lean records as well as the later stuff. They describe their approach as playing each song with the same power, heart and soul as the original act, so the focus is on the songs themselves rather than just the big hits.
If you're not familiar with the range, it's worth keeping in mind how much ground that spans. Greetings From Asbury Park is the early, wordy Springsteen of the early seventies; Western Stars is the more stripped-back, orchestral sound of his later years. To pull from both in one set gives you a decent look at the whole arc rather than just one era.
