Informal networking meeting of The Railway Club, a society of railway professionals, to share experiences and build a regional community.
The Railway Club is hosting another social networking afternoon at The Caley Sample Room on Thursday 14 January, starting at 15:00. It's a gathering for railway professionals to meet up and chat in a relaxed setting, and it's free to get in.
If you're not familiar with it, The Railway Club is an informal society of people working across the rail industry. The whole point is to bring peers together without the usual formality — there are no speeches to sit through and no set agenda to follow. It's just a room full of people who do the same kind of work, chatting over a drink.
That lack of a formal programme is a big part of the appeal. It's designed to work for everyone from the veterans who've spent decades on the track to those who've only just started their first role. The idea is that you can share knowledge, catch up with old acquaintances you've lost touch with, and build a bit of a regional community of railway professionals right here in Edinburgh.

Because it's a social rather than a conference, it's as much about the people as the industry. You'll find a mix of backgrounds and experience levels in the room, which makes it a decent spot to pick up a few new contacts or just hear how other teams are handling things. It's a low-pressure way to get out of the office and meet people you might otherwise only know as a name on an email.
The afternoon kicks off at 15:00 at The Caley Sample Room, 42-58 Angle Park Terrace, Edinburgh, EH11 2JR. Entry is free, and you'll need to grab a ticket through Eventbrite to secure your spot.
