The Postcards' fifth annual Twixmas show of classic alternative songs by The Smiths, The Cure, Joy Division and more, for over-18s only.
The Postcards are back at La Belle Angele on Tuesday 29 December for their Twixtmas special, the fifth annual edition of the show. It's a night built around a set of classics from alternative bands: The Smiths, The Cure, Simple Minds, New Order, Echo & The Bunnymen, REM, Joy Division, and many more. They're presented by Postcards Scotland, and the whole thing is for over-18s only, general admission standing.
If those names ring a bell, you've got the gist of it. The set draws from the alternative and post-punk records of the late seventies and eighties, and the band describes it as a special extravaganza built around those songs. They deliver them with acclaimed vocals and their trademark jangly guitars, so it's a familiar sound given a live treatment. It's a long list of bands to cover in one night, and the 'many more' suggests the set reaches beyond the biggest names on that list.
It's the fifth year they've run this as a Twixtmas celebration, so it's become a bit of a regular fixture for them in the gap between Christmas and New Year. The night is presented by Postcards Scotland, and as mentioned, it's strictly over-18s, general admission standing throughout.
