The 75th Anniversary Tour of Agatha Christie's murder mystery 'The Mousetrap', the longest-running play in the world, at Edinburgh Playhouse.
The Mousetrap comes to the Edinburgh Playhouse from 5 to 10 April 2027, with the first preview and opening night on 5 April and the closing night on 10 April. It's part of the show's 75th Anniversary Tour across the UK and Ireland, playing as a special anniversary production. The play runs two hours and twenty minutes and is recommended for audiences aged 12 and over.
It's Agatha Christie's most famous murder mystery, billed as the cleverest of British theatre and the longest-running play in the world. It opened in the West End in 1952, adapted from Christie's radio play Three Blind Mice, on the strict condition that no audience or press member ever give away the plot. Christie herself gave it eight months at most, yet it's run at St Martin's Theatre for over 70 years, topping 30,000 performances. She also stipulated that a film adaptation could only be made six months after the West End production closed, a clause that's made a film unlikely.
The cast for this run includes Nicholas Bailey as Major Metcalf, Susan Penhaligon as Mrs Boyle, Emily Laing as Mollie Ralston, Jack Hardwick as Giles Ralston, Thomas Barrett as Christopher Wren, Clare Duffy as Miss Casewell, James Peake as Mr Paravicini, and Alfie Richards as Detective Sergeant Trotter.
