Family ceilidh party with The Haggis Chasers Ceilidh Band to welcome Hogmanay, for those with no previous ceilidh experience.
The Haggis Ceilidh Club is hosting a Hogmanay family party at The Biscuit Factory on Thursday 31 December, with The Haggis Chasers Ceilidh Band providing the music. It runs from 5.00pm to 6.30pm, with doors opening at 4.45pm, so it's a daytime session rather than a late one.
The whole thing is run by The Haggis Chasers, one of Scotland's leading modern ceilidh bands. They've got experienced musicians and friendly dance callers who guide you through every dance, so you're never left guessing where to step. The family party is built specifically for people with no previous ceilidh experience, and they describe it as an interactive, fun and energetic introduction to a ceilidh during the day, well before the bells ring in the New Year at night. They frame it as an authentic Scottish way to bring in the year, and the band makes a point of saying that no prior experience is needed to get involved.
Because it's a family party, it's as much for the kids as for the adults, and the daytime slot means you can get your ceilidh in and still have the rest of Hogmanay to do whatever else you've got planned. If you've never been to a ceilidh before, this is a low-pressure way to try it out with a band that's used to teaching the steps on the fly.
