Panel by Giles Chance and Kirsty Douglas on how Generation Z is shaping politics, geopolitics and the future of work.
The Global Impact of Gen Z is coming to Brodies LLP on Tuesday 3 November, a talk presented by the Asia Scotland Institute and Brodies. It runs from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at 58 Morrison Street, Edinburgh EH3 8BP.
The panel looks at how Generation Z is shaping politics, geopolitics and the future of work. It draws on examples like India's Cockroach Janta movement to ask how governments, businesses and institutions can respond to a generation coming of age amid geopolitical uncertainty and the rapid expansion of AI. The conversation covers Gen Z's growing influence on protest and public debate, the power of social media to mobilise youth-led movements, the impact of AI on careers and workplace expectations, and how organisations can engage the generation effectively.
Two speakers lead the discussion. Giles Chance first engaged with China in 1984 after meeting his future wife at the World Bank in Washington DC; the couple set up a Chinese advisory business and in 2003 co-founded the China-focused boutique investment bank Evolution Securities China, a period he chronicles in his memoir Living with Dragons. Kirsty Douglas is a doctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh investigating reasons for professional turnover among Gen Z and Millennial nurses.
