Live blues concert by The Fabulous Thunderbirds, fronted by Kim Wilson, at The Queen's Hall.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds play The Queen's Hall on Sunday 23 May 2027, with the show starting at 8:00pm. They've been a fixture of the American blues scene for more than 30 years, and this is a full-band night rather than a small club date.
At the front is co-founder Kim Wilson, the only original member still in the group. Muddy Waters called him his favourite harmonica player and vocalist, and his playing draws on a long list of names: Little Walter, George 'Harmonica' Smith, Lazy Lester, James Cotton, Bobby 'Blue' Bland, B.B. King, Otis Rush, Jimmy Rodgers and Muddy Waters himself. He's joined by Johnny Moeller on guitar, Bob Welsh on piano and guitar, Rudy Albin on drums and Steve Kirsty on bass.
Wilson started the band with Jimmie Vaughan in 1974, and they released their self-titled debut in 1979, a blues-informed cult classic. Over the years they brought in Cajun, rock 'n' roll and soul influences, and hit a commercial peak in 1986 with Tuff Enuff, whose title track, 'Wrap It Up' and 'Look At That' all made the top 40. The show is presented by AGMP Concerts and is restricted to ages 14 and over.
