Over-18s only gig by the Leeds indie-folk and Americana band The Dunwells, with support from Roswell Road, at The Speakeasy at The Voodoo Rooms.
The Dunwells play The Voodoo Rooms on Friday 6 November, with Roswell Road opening the bill. It's a Leeds band coming up to Edinburgh, and they're fronted by brothers Joseph and David Dunwell, with Adam Taylor and Rob Clayton on the rest of the line-up.
They've been around since 2009, and their sound sits somewhere between indie-folk and Americana. It's built on acoustic instruments and electronics, with straightforward songwriting and big choruses, and they're known for strong vocals, powerful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Their debut album, Blind Sighted Faith, came out in 2012, and they've put out six more albums and EPs since then. They've toured the US, Europe and the UK, supporting Mumford and Sons, Tom Jones, Scouting for Girls, Bryan Adams and Elbow, and they've also written material for joint collaborations and other high-profile up-and-coming artists. NME called them 'a MUST-see band', and IndieCentralMusic.com praised them for bringing 'a much needed innovative and fresh take on music'.
