Stage adaptation of Mark Haddon's novel, directed by Marianne Elliott, in which a fifteen-year-old boy with a brilliant mind for numbers becomes both detective and suspect in a mystery.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time comes to the Festival Theatre from Tuesday 12 to Saturday 16 January 2027. It's the stage adaptation of Mark Haddon's novel, which sold 10 million copies, adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens, produced by the National Theatre and directed by Marianne Elliott.
The story follows Christopher Boone, fifteen and gifted with a brilliant mind for numbers but unsettled by the unpredictability of everyday life. He finds himself under suspicion of killing his neighbour Mrs Shears' dog, Wellington, and becomes both detective and suspect in a mystery that grows darker. The production combines the intrigue of a whodunnit with a coming-of-age story, and it's known for its inventive design and for pushing the audience to see the world from Christopher's perspective. The Times called it 'a phenomenal combination of storytelling and spectacle', and it drew praise from the New York Times, New York Post, Time Out New York and the Evening Standard.
Joe McFadden and Charlie Brooks play Chris's parents, Ed and Judy. The show runs for five days: Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 at 19:30, Friday 15 at 19:30, and Saturday 16 with a matinee at 14:30 and an evening performance at 19:30. That's six shows in total over the five days, so you've got a fair few options to choose from.
