Weekly night of live stand-up at the intimate underground venue The Comedy Cellar on the Canongate, with Scottish, Irish and international acts.
The Comedy Cellar is running live stand-up at The Comedy Cellar on the Canongate, with the next show on Sunday 25 October from 20:00. It's not a one-off, either — they put on a show seven nights a week, so if you miss this one, there's another the next night.
The venue is an intimate underground room at 232 Canongate, EH8 8DQ, and it bills itself as Edinburgh's only five-star rated comedy show. It's a Fringe favourite, and the nights are built around a curated mix of Scottish, Irish and international acts, so you'll usually get a few different voices on the same bill. They describe the comedy as sharp wit from seasoned performers, and the room's underground feel keeps it close to the stage.
There are a couple of age restrictions to keep in mind before you book. Children are allowed as long as they're accompanied by an adult, but the room becomes strictly 21+ after 21:00, so if you're bringing younger ones, you'll want to be in and out before then. Babies under two aren't permitted. With the show starting at 20:00, that 21:00 cutoff comes pretty quickly into the night, so it's worth planning accordingly if you're not coming solo.
