The Olivier Award-nominated musical, billed as 'the best pub in the world', on its first UK tour.
The Choir of Man opens at the Festival Theatre on Tuesday 1 December, the first Edinburgh stop of its first UK tour. It's an Olivier Award-nominated West End show that's billed as 'the best pub in the world', and it lives up to that: the whole thing is set in a pub, and the cast is nine (extra)ordinary guys — a mix of instrumentalists, wordsmiths and singers who deliver live, foot-stomping reinventions of hits from a wide range of artists. You'll hear Queen, Luther Vandross, Sia, Paul Simon, Adele, Guns N' Roses, Avicii and Katy Perry, all reworked by the group rather than played straight.
It comes from the writers of Spring Awakening, and they describe it as an uplifting celebration of community and friendship. There's on-stage alcohol use and some adult themes, so it's recommended for ages 10 and over. The show runs for two hours and five minutes, including an interval, and it stays in town for a few days after the opening night, running until Saturday 5 December.
