Hands-on Christmas cooking and baking class for budding young chefs at the Edinburgh Food & Drink Academy.
Edinburgh Food & Drink Academy is running a Young Chef's Christmas Class on Monday 21 December, starting at 10:30. It's a hands-on session for teenagers, led by a teaching team that guides them through a selection of festive recipes. The day is built around getting stuck in, with plenty of opportunities to both cook and bake, and everyone leaves with festive food to take home and enjoy over the Christmas break.
The academy itself is set in a Georgian townhouse in the heart of the city centre, spanning five floors with panoramic views across the Firth of Forth. It's a working culinary school that trains professional chefs and runs short courses for keen amateurs, students and food enthusiasts. Inside, there's a fully equipped teaching kitchen, a demonstration theatre that seats 50, and a function room.
Because it's a teaching kitchen, the class is about more than just following a recipe. The teaching team is there to walk participants through the techniques, so it works for budding chefs who want to pick up some new skills while they work. The mix of cooking and baking means you're not just doing one thing all morning, and the food you make goes home with you rather than staying in the kitchen.
