Monthly drop-in improv jam at Summerhall where players take part in improv games together, with no prior improv experience required.
TBC Improv are back at Summerhall on Thursday 12 November for their monthly improv jam. It's a drop-in session, which means you can just turn up and get involved rather than watching from the sidelines. The whole point is to jump in and play improv games with other people, share a few laughs and meet some fellow improvisers along the way. It's as much a social as a comedy session, so it works whether you're there for the laughs or for the people.
One of the best things about it is that you don't need any prior improv experience to take part. They describe it as a fun, inclusive night where absolutely everyone is welcome, and that goes for the total beginner as much as the seasoned player. If you've never done improv before, this is a low-pressure way to dip your toes in. If you've already taken a few classes, it's a good place to keep playing and meet more of the local community.
The jam is part of TBC Improv's wider programme at Summerhall, so if you fancy more than just the jam, there's plenty to pick from. They run TBC & Friends: A Night Of Improvised Comedy, a two-hour Welcome To Improv drop-in class for beginners, a Clown In Improv workshop, a four-week Intro To Improv Course (101), and Fresh Faces Of Improv - Shortform, a fast, funny evening of shortform improv from up-and-coming performers. If the jam gets you hooked, you've got a few different ways to keep going.
