Stand-up show in which Susan Morrison, host of BBC Radio Scotland's 'Time Travels', guides the audience through Scotland's scandalous history.
Susan Morrison is bringing her show Susan Morrison is Historically Funny to The Stand Comedy Club on 29 November, with other dates on 25 October and 20 December. If you've heard her on the radio, you'll recognise the voice: she hosts Time Travels on BBC Radio Scotland, and she's taking the DNA of that show and putting it on stage.
She describes the format as a play on the idea of a walking tour, though with one key difference: it's a sit-down, no-walking tour of Scotland's seediest, skankiest and most scandalous history. Instead of trailing after a guide through the streets, you get the same sort of storytelling as a comedy night in the club, with the audience seated and a drink in hand. It's a way of getting through the darker, more eccentric corners of the country's past without actually having to leave your chair.
That's the Time Travels connection in a nutshell. The show is strictly for over-18s, so it's not one for taking the kids along to. If you're into the more colourful, less-sanitised side of Scottish history, it's right up that alley.

The Stand is at 5 York Place in Edinburgh New Town, EH1 3EB. Doors open at 16:30, and the show runs from 17:00 to 18:00, so it's a full hour. With the early start, it's more of a late-afternoon thing than a late-night one.
