Weekly free drop-in storytime session for young children with food-related storybooks at The Cookbook Shop in Leith.
The Cookbook Shop in Leith is running a weekly storytime session for young children, with readings drawn from the shop's own wide selection of food-related storybooks. It's part of their family and kids programme, and the sessions run as drop-in midday gatherings on Thursdays. The next one is on Thursday 29 October, and it's free to attend.
If you've got little ones, it's a straightforward one to work around: it's a drop-in, so you don't need to book ahead. The readings come from the shop's shelves, so the stories always circle back to food — exactly the kind of thing that usually goes down with kids. It's a midday slot, which makes it an easy fit for a morning out with the kids before lunch.
Storytime is just one part of what the shop does for families. They run a whole programme for kids, and the shop itself is a hub for food and literature events throughout the year. That includes hands-on workshops, author talks, themed story feasts, and seasonal food and drink previews. There's also a three-day Halloween Book Fair, so if you're in the area around the end of October, there's more to it than just the weekly reading.
