Book celebration for Taylor J. LaRue's 'Steelborn' with a chaired conversation, book signing and a ceilidh led by the Edinburgh Ceilidh Club.
Taylor J. LaRue is coming to Summerhall on Thursday 29 October for a night built around his debut Romantasy novel, Steelborn. It's a bit of a hybrid evening: there's a chaired conversation, a book signing, and a ceilidh to get everyone on their feet, all under the Steelborn banner. The whole thing runs from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm in the Main Hall.
Steelborn is set in Rhiterra, a world where magic is outlawed. It follows Reya Connery, the Crimson Dagger and Rhiterra's most notorious thief, and Caelan Halcyon, an immortal warrior whose magic makes him a target for anyone desperate to find a cure for the curse inching closer to his heart. The conversation and signing give you a chance to hear LaRue talk through the book, and there will be copies available on the night if you've come without one.
The dancing side of things is handled by the Edinburgh Ceilidh Club, which they describe as a world-renowned club bringing the best in Scottish ceilidh dancing, with Scotland's top bands and dancing for everyone from complete beginners to experienced dancers. They'll be teaching the ceilidh, so you don't need to know your way around a set to join in.
