An improvised, macabre horror show where Alex Staniforth invents a new story each night, drawing voluntary audience members into the narrative as characters.
Alex Staniforth brings Stand Up Horror to The Banshee Labyrinth on Saturday 17 October, part of a run that's been going since mid-September. Staniforth is an actor, writer and tour guide, and the whole thing is built on him inventing a brand new horror story every single night. It's not a script he's rehearsed; it's made up on the spot, so no two shows end up in the same place.
The audience gets pulled in as characters, deciding what they do, what they find and, occasionally, who they love. The story wanders across Edinburgh, pitting the group against ghosts, zombies, witches or all three at once, with the spectators' suggestions guiding the adventure and determining whether the characters live or die. Because it's improvised, the night depends as much on who's in the room as it does on Staniforth himself.
