Soundhouse: SWF Spotlight

Soundhouse returns to the Traverse Theatre on Sunday 29 November with SWF Spotlight, its third annual jazz showcase. It's an afternoon dedicated to some of Scotland's emerging jazz talent, and this year the spotlight falls on nor, Laura Osa, and the Zoe Downs Band.

The showcase is part of a wider series of live, in-person gigs the Soundhouse Organisation is running this autumn, which brings a range of global jazz, country, traditional and folk acts to the intimate Traverse Bar. If you've been following their recent bookings, you'll know they've been leaning into that mix of styles, and this afternoon sits right at the jazz end of it. The three acts on the bill — nor, Laura Osa, and the Zoe Downs Band — each bring their own approach to the genre, so you'll get a good sense of where the scene is heading in Scotland right now.

It's a Sunday afternoon slot, which suits the Traverse Bar's smaller, closer-quarters feel. Doors open at 13:45 and the music starts at 14:00, so it's a proper daytime session rather than a late one. Tickets are £14.50 to £18.50, and the venue advises that under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. If you're planning to make a day of it, that's worth keeping in mind.
