Sidley Insight Evening

Sidley Austin are hosting an insight evening at the Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel on Monday 16 November, from 18:00 to 20:00. It's a free event, and it's run by the firm itself, so it's a direct look at how they work rather than a general careers fair.

If you're not familiar, Sidley Austin is a global law firm with around 2,300 lawyers and nearly 160 years behind it. They've got 21 offices worldwide and lawyers who speak more than 75 languages, so the scale is quite something. The evening is aimed at undergraduates, with priority given to penultimate- and final-year law students and final-year non-law students. It's set up as a gateway to the firm's Vacation Scheme and Training Contract, so if you're thinking about a career in law, this is a good place to start.

That scheme runs a one-week winter placement and two-week placements in spring and summer each year, which feed into a training contract that takes in around 19 trainees annually. The contract itself lasts two years, split across six four-month practice group seats, and includes a rotation in the firm's AI Knowledge Lab. The evening mixes a panel presentation from Sidley with networking and an informal drinks reception, so you'll get a bit of a formal introduction followed by a chance to talk to people one-on-one.
