Knowledge exchange session of the Scottish Community Link Worker Network on health and wellbeing for community link workers.
The Scottish Community Link Worker Network (SCLWN) is holding its next Knowledge Exchange at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh on Thursday 12 November. It's one of their regular sessions, and this one is led by Hilda Campbell from Cope Scotland.
If you're not familiar with the network, SCLWN is a national body for primary care community link working across Scotland, run by Voluntary Health Scotland. It brings together link workers from primary care settings to share learning, network and support each other, with the aim of improving outcomes for patients and communities. The network is directed by a working group of community link workers and an advisory group of programme leads, with project manager Roisin Hurst handling membership and future events.
Among its broader goals, the network provides peer-to-peer support, raises awareness of the role in tackling health inequalities, and works to strengthen its contribution to primary care teams. It also identifies training and development opportunities to professionalise the role and offers a collective voice to influence policy. These Knowledge Exchanges are where the practical side of that happens: they give workers a chance to hear from organisations and services that can support them and their clients.

The November session focuses on how link workers can look after their own health and wellbeing, starting from the premise that they can only help others if they're looking after themselves. It's a shift in focus from the usual outward-facing work, turning the attention back to the people doing the supporting. The session takes place at Dynamic Earth on 12 November.
