Patrick Hahn leads the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the RSNO Chorus and the Edinburgh Festival Chorus in a performance of Verdi's Requiem at the Usher Hall.
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra bring Verdi's Requiem to Usher Hall on Friday 6 November, with Patrick Hahn conducting. It's a big one: the RSNO is joined by four soloists — Jennifer Davis on soprano, Deniz Uzun on mezzo-soprano, Mario Lerchenberger on tenor and Edwin Crossley-Mercer on bass — and two choruses, the RSNO Chorus directed by Stephen Doughty and the Edinburgh Festival Chorus directed by James Grossmith. The RSNO describes the Requiem as more than a vision of the Day of Judgement, but a passionate journey into the human heart itself.
The RSNO Chorus has been under Stephen Doughty's direction since the 2022:23 season and has staged the Requiem among many critically acclaimed performances. The concert is supported by the Jennie S. Gordon Memorial Foundation. BSL interpretation is provided by Paul Whittaker, a deaf musician who founded the charity Music and the Deaf in 1988 and was awarded an OBE in 2007.
