The Royal Scottish National Orchestra plays John Williams' score live to picture as Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is screened, conducted by Stefan Geiger.
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra are at Usher Hall on Tuesday 22 December, playing John Williams' score live to picture as Home Alone 2: Lost in New York screens on the big screen. It's the RSNO taking on the full soundtrack in real time, so the music you hear comes from the stage rather than the film's audio track. The whole thing runs about two hours and twenty minutes, with a twenty-minute interval in the middle, and it's presented under licence from Disney Concerts.
Conducting is Stefan Geiger, a German conductor who's spent a fair bit of time working with film. He's led orchestral accompaniment to silent films like The Artist, Ben Hur and Battleship Potemkin, and he's a co-founder and jury chairman of the German Games Music Award, so he's well-versed in the intersection of orchestral music and screen. Here, he'll be leading Scotland's National Orchestra through Williams' score as the movie plays out around them.
