The Royal Scottish National Orchestra plays the greatest hits of Coldplay and Queen with live vocalists at the Usher Hall.
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra are playing the greatest hits of Coldplay and Queen at Usher Hall on Friday 5 March 2027, as part of their 2026-27 season. It's a double bill of two very different songbooks — one a stadium-filling pop-rock act from the 2000s, the other a legendary rock band from the seventies — both played by a full orchestra with live vocalists. The RSNO describes the set as the hits of both bands in full symphonic splendour, so the arrangements will carry the melodies and the vocalists will take the lead on the singing.
Usher Hall on Lothian Road is the city's main venue for visiting national and international orchestras, and it's been the primary home of the Edinburgh International Festival since 1947. The Beaux Arts hall dates back to 1896, when Andrew Usher gave £100,000 to the City of Edinburgh to found a concert hall; it was completed in 1914 and remains one of the city's architectural gems, with acoustics praised as among the best in Europe. It's a space built for this kind of sound, so the orchestral side of things will have plenty of room to breathe.
