Somatic movement session based on The Feldenkrais Method, in which participants lie on the floor to find deep rest and nervous system regulation.
Merav is leading a REST session at Alae in Leith on Sunday 29 November, from 10:00 to 11:30. It's a somatic movement class based on the Feldenkrais Method, delivered in the Awareness Through Movement format, which means you'll spend most of the session lying on the floor. Merav describes it as 'mindfulness in action' — an invitation into a deep state of rest and nervous system regulation. You don't need any prior movement practice or Feldenkrais experience to join in.
The method itself is about finding a more fluid, skilful way of moving. It's often used for relief and recovery from pain, injuries and neurological issues, and for boosting relaxation, resilience and vitality. The session is titled Purifying the Senses, and it's designed to help you settle in and let the nervous system reset.
Merav is a certified Feldenkrais teacher with 35 years of experience teaching movement across different ages and abilities. She brings her background as a dance artist and therapist into her work, and Alae is a Leith studio that supports healing practices, mind-body connection and creativity. It's a morning session, so it's a good one to start your Sunday with if you're looking for something quiet rather than a busy one.

Tickets are between £11.55 and £22.38 via Eventbrite. The session runs from 10:00 to 11:30, so you're in and out in an hour and a half. Alae is at 100B Constitution St, Leith EH6 6AW, on the third floor, and you get up there via a metal staircase — there's no lift, so keep that in mind when you're planning your morning.
