Red Snapper, the British instrumental band mixing jazz, funk and hip-hop, return with a new album and a strictly over-18s show.
Red Snapper play The Voodoo Rooms on Wednesday 26 May 2027, in the Ballroom. They're touring a brand new album they describe as their most powerful and dynamic since Reeled and Skinned.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, they're a British instrumental band founded in London in 1993 by Ali Friend on double bass, Richard Thair on drums and David Ayers on guitar. Their sound pulls from jazz, funk, jungle, trip-hop, hip-hop and breakbeat, with early psychedelic and progressive rock running through it. Three EPs led to a Warp Records deal and their debut LP Prince Blimey in 1996, followed by Making Bones, recorded with jungle MC Det and singer Alison David, and Our Aim is to Satisfy in 2000. They announced their dissolution in early 2002 but reunited the following year with the It's All Good compilation and the remix album Redone in 2003, before reforming again in 2007.
