Live adaptation of the BBC show in which teams of two to eight race across Edinburgh on foot, solving escape-room-style puzzles at three checkpoints.
Race Across The World: The Experience is running across Edinburgh city centre from 7 April to 31 December 2026, taking the BBC show's format and turning it into a live game for teams to play on the city's streets. It's the official adaptation of the series, so it keeps the same competitive spirit and suspense, but instead of crossing continents, you're racing across Edinburgh on foot.
Teams of two to eight players navigate the city, with no public transport allowed, guided by WhatsApp across three checkpoints. Along the way, you spend an in-game budget to buy directions, solve physical escape-room-style puzzles and riddles, and hunt down the show's iconic guest book to sign your names. The whole thing is a race against other teams, with your final time landing you on an all-time leaderboard.
The experience is run by CityDays, a UK company that's spent about half a decade building urban adventure trails that weave puzzle-filled narratives into real city streets. This is one of five cities across six locations where the game is available, so it's not just a one-off for Edinburgh.

Tickets start at £20 per adult player, with children over 10 at £15 and children under 10 playing for free. Tickets must be purchased by an adult (18+). It runs from 7 April through to 31 December 2026, so there's plenty of time to get a group together and see where you land on that leaderboard.
