PROTOTYPE // Open studio for artists & makers

PROTOTYPE is back at Saltire Court, 20 Castle Terrace on Saturday 5 December, from 11:00 to 16:00. It's an open studio run by AGITATE, a community for photographers that opens its doors to creatives of all kinds, so you don't have to be a photographer to spend the day there.

The format is simple: you bring whatever desk-based project you're working on — sketchbooks, zines, or even Christmas cards — and get it done in an open-plan shared studio. You can work alongside a small group of fellow makers or just keep to yourself with some silent 'body double' company for the day. It's the kind of thing that's easier to get through when there are other people around doing the same thing.

There's more than just a desk, too. The £5 ticket includes unlimited access to the studio printer with ink provided, and the space has exhibition panels for pinning and installing work, plenty of floor space, light snacks, and a coffee machine. The studio is on the second floor and is accessible by stairs or lift.

These sessions run roughly every three months, with the previous one on Saturday 19 September, so this is the next chance to grab a spot. It's £5 for non-members, and AGITATE MAKER and HERO members (via Patreon) attend free of charge. It runs from 11:00 to 16:00 at Saltire Court, 20 Castle Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2EE.
