Free forum for park and greenspace staff from Scottish councils on operations, monitoring and engagement in nature recovery, with presentations, a guided walk and a workshop.
Greenspace Scotland is hosting the Park Managers Forum at Duncan Place Community Hub on Tuesday 3 November, a day for park and greenspace staff from councils across Scotland to get together and talk nature recovery. The whole thing is run in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council, and the day is built around three themes they've picked as essential for getting nature recovery right: operations, monitoring, and communication and engagement.
Those three themes aren't just talked about in the abstract, either. They're tied directly into the delivery of the Edinburgh Nature Network and other linked programmes, so the conversation stays grounded in what's actually happening on the ground. The programme mixes presentations with a guided walk led by Council staff out to Nature Network pilot sites in Leith, and there's a lunch break in between. The day finishes with an interactive workshop where attendees share how they're handling nature recovery within their own wider greenspace management aims.
It's a professional gathering, but it's a practical one. The walk gets people out of the room and into the actual sites being discussed, and the workshop is about sharing what works rather than just listening to a presentation. If you're working in greenspace management, it's a chance to see how other councils are tackling the same problems and to get a closer look at the Nature Network in action.
