Hybrid one-day epigenetics and chromatin research meeting with talks and poster sessions, with live streaming to Paris.
The Paris-Edinburgh Chromatin Meeting is coming to the Institute of Genetics and Cancer on Wednesday 2 December, and it's a bit of a strange one. It's a hybrid one-day event that runs in two cities at once: Edinburgh and Paris. Each city meets in person, and the talks are live-streamed across the Channel so researchers at one end can follow along in real time. It's designed to bring together the epigenetics and chromatin research communities of both cities, and the day combines talks and poster sessions, with presenters selected from submitted abstracts. There are also networking opportunities built in, aimed at getting the two hubs to collaborate.
The speaker line-up is a good mix from both sides of the water. From the Edinburgh end, you've got Robin Allshire from CCBio, Wendy Bickmore from the MRC Human Genetics Unit and the IGC, and Dónal O'Carroll, also from CCBio. From Paris, Geneviève Almouzni is joining from the Institut Curie, and Pablo Navarro is coming from the Institut Pasteur. It's a fair spread of names from some of the big labs in both cities, and the hybrid format means you'll be hearing from the Paris contingent live, even if you're sitting in Edinburgh.

Behind the scenes, it's a joint effort. Pierre-Antoine Defossez and Daniele Fachinetti are organising things in Paris, while Hannah Long and Marcus Wilson are handling the Edinburgh side. The whole thing runs from 9:00 to 17:30 on the day, so it's a full day of talks and posters rather than a quick drop-in. Entry is free, and the Edinburgh venue is the Institute of Genetics and Cancer.
