The award-winning West End show about a homeless woman on the streets of Dublin, direct from London, at the Assembly Rooms.
Myra's Story plays at the Assembly Rooms on Friday 26 March and Saturday 27 March, both nights starting at 19:00. It's an award-winning play that's come over from London's West End, and it's a one-woman show that carries a lot of ground. FΓonna Hewitt-Twamley takes the stage as Myra, a woman who's fallen on hard times and is now homeless on the streets of Dublin. From there, she tells the story of how she ended up in that position, and along the way she brings to life more than 15 different Dublin characters, so it's one person playing a whole cast of people as she recounts the events.
It's a story that swings between the hilarious and the heart-wrenching, and it's been described as a tour-de-force performance. The play has played to more than 250,000 theatregoers across Ireland, the UK and North America, and it was a four-time smash hit at the Edinburgh Fringe before it made its way to the West End. Broadway Baby called it an 'outstanding play'.
The venue is the Assembly Rooms at 54 George Street, a Category A-listed Georgian building that's one of the city's best-loved meeting places and a key Fringe venue. It mixes 18th-century style and elegance with 21st-century performance technology, so it's a familiar spot for anyone who follows the Fringe. The show is for ages 12 and over, with under-16s needing to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older.
