Weekly musical theatre workshop for adults aged 18 and over that blends dance and singing around a single musical each session.
Musical Makers is a weekly musical theatre workshop for adults at the Edinburgh Playhouse, running on Mondays from 7 September to 30 November 2026. Each session blends dance and singing around a single musical, so you're working through one show at a time rather than jumping between a dozen different tunes in a single evening. It's aimed at anyone 18 and over, and you don't need any prior singing or dancing experience to join in.
Two specialist tutors lead the sessions. Jo Richards is a dance teacher and choreographer who's been working professionally since 2005, and Hannah Ferrier-Baker has performed and taught for eighteen years, working with organisations including SJM Creative and Edinburgh Acting School. Together they cover both the movement and the music, so you're getting a proper look at how the two fit together. The classes run for about two and a half hours and take place in the Boards Bar Space and on the stage of the Playhouse itself.

People who've joined describe the atmosphere as welcoming and less intimidating than they'd expected, which is a good thing to keep in mind if you've never stood in front of a room to sing or dance before. You can book individual sessions if you only want to drop in once in a while, or a block of nine for the price of eight through ATG Tickets. The sessions run from 6.30 pm to 9.00 pm, and there's no wheelchair or lift access to the workshop spaces. Prices start from £15.50.
