Free day of seminars, one-to-one consultations and a professional exhibition on visas, tax, property and relocation to Portugal.
The Moving to Portugal Show & Seminars returns to The Scotsman Hotel on Thursday 12 November, the second time it's come to Edinburgh after last year's first run. It's run by the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK as part of their wider Moving to Portugal programme, which brings together people thinking about relocating, buying property or investing with Portuguese businesses and professional advisers.
The day is split between two formats. There are expert-led seminars covering the practical side of the move: visa pathways, tax planning, UK pension transfers, property acquisition, healthcare access and relocation logistics. Alongside those, you'll find one-to-one consultations and an exhibition of property developers, legal advisers and relocation professionals. If you've got a specific question about a particular region or a particular part of the process, the consultations are where you can get a direct answer rather than just listening to a talk.
It's a bit of a one-stop shop for the whole thing. The seminars give you the broad picture on the legal and financial hurdles, and the exhibition lets you talk to the people who actually do the work on the ground. Between the two, you can map out the move from the first visa application through to finding a place to live.

There's a practical reason it's easier to get there now than it used to be: direct flights run from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Funchal, so you can actually visit the country without a detour. The show runs from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm at The Scotsman Hotel, 20 North Bridge, EH1 1TR, and entry is free.
