Turkish rock band mor ve ötesi presents a rare unplugged concert series reimagining their catalog in an intimate acoustic format.
mor ve ötesi play The Queen's Hall on Wednesday 4 November, their first Edinburgh date since their last European tour sold out. They're a Turkish rock band that's been around since their 1996 debut Şehir, and over eight studio albums they've become one of the biggest names in modern Turkish rock. You might recognise them from songs like 'Bir Derdim Var' and 'Cambaz', and their 2004 album Dünya Yalan Söylüyor is still held up as a defining moment for Turkish alternative music. Their career has taken them from Eurovision to film soundtracks and a historic stadium concert, so they're well used to playing for big crowds.
This show is different, though. They're touring an unplugged format they've put together specifically for seated, intimate venues. The distortion is gone, replaced by acoustic arrangements and minimal production, so the songs you might know as loud rock tracks are stripped back and played with a bit more space around them. It's a reimagining of their catalogue rather than a straight-through set, and it's built for a room where you can actually hear the details.
