Weekly informal night of euro and strategy board games run by the Edinburgh Board Gamers, with newcomers welcome.
Monday Night Strategy Games are back at the Hampton by Hilton Edinburgh West End on Monday 26 October, part of a series that runs every Monday until 13 December. It's run by the Edinburgh Board Gamers, a local board-gaming group that's been holding these nights for about six months now.
The evenings are very informal. Tables form organically around the pile of games people bring along, and the person who brings a game usually teaches it at the start of the session, so you don't need to know the rules before you turn up. Medium- to long-form euro and strategy games tend to dominate, and you can either bring your own titles or try something someone else has brought. Newcomers are welcome, and the regulars are keen to help you get settled in.
The hotel provides the space for free, and there's a bar and a Starbucks on site, plus a small food menu if you fancy a bite to eat. The group runs a Patreon to help cover their running costs, and the nights are free to join — attendees are just asked to buy a drink or two while they play.
