Free public talk on a current medical topic, part of the Modern Medicine series of talks by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
Modern Medicine returns to the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on Wednesday 14 April 2027, from 18:00 to 19:00, in the Physicians Gallery. It's part of the college's ongoing public engagement programme, and the format is a hybrid one: you can either head down to the college in person or join from home online.
Each session brings together experts in modern medicine and health to talk through current medical topics with an audience of students, professionals and the curious public. It's not a one-off; the series has covered a wide range of ground over time, with past talks on menopause, parasites, HIV and insomnia. The sessions are funded by The Joyce Grainger Charitable Trust, and it's worth keeping in mind that no CPD points or certificates of attendance are awarded.

The talk takes place in the Physicians Gallery, inside the college at 11 Queen Street, Edinburgh, EH2 1JQ. It runs from 18:00 to 19:00, so it's a single hour in the early evening. Entry is free for students with a student card, under 18s with an ID card, and RCPE Fellows or Members.
