The Lancashire activist folk trio Mobius Loop play Sneaky Pete's in Edinburgh with their Right To Roam tour.
Mobius Loop play Sneaky Pete's on Thursday 3 December, as part of their Right To Roam tour. They're a Lancashire grassroots activist folk trio, and this is one of their Scottish dates on the run.
They describe themselves as one of the most viral and polarising independent bands in the UK, and it's easy to see why. They draw both praise and criticism for their aim to rise above political, religious and cultural divisions, welcoming everyone to dance and sing together for unity and peace. Their lyrics pulse with a message of compassion, love and empathy, but they don't shy away from taboo subjects: anti-monarchy, animal rights and female orgasms all make an appearance, alongside calling out billionaires. They play it all as riotous, foot-stomping, world-music-inspired peace anthems.
Sneaky Pete's is at 73 Cowgate in Edinburgh's Old Town, and it's widely considered one of the best small music venues in the city. Established in 2008, it holds around 200 people and has hosted acts like Ed Sheeran, Foals and Alt-J alongside its regular club nights. It's a proper basement space, so a foot-stomping folk set should fit right in.
