Free language-exchange meetup for Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese and English speakers of all levels at Teviot Row House.
Teviot Row House is hosting a language exchange on Tuesday 27 October, bringing together Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese and English. It's an open session, so it doesn't matter where you're starting from — whether you're a complete beginner or you've been studying for years, you'll fit in. The whole thing is run as a Meetup group, and while the room can hold up to 40, they keep the sessions to about 10 people, which keeps it small enough that you're actually talking rather than just sitting in a crowd.
The evening starts with everyone introducing themselves and their level in the languages they know, and from there it's just free chatting. You can swap cultures and interests as much as you like, and if you're stuck for things to talk about, there are a few regulars that usually crop up: Japanese anime, food and K-pop are the ones that tend to get the conversation moving. It's less of a formal class and more of a social, so you can spend as much or as little time on any one language as you fancy.

It's held in the Gallery Studio Room on the fourth floor of Teviot Row House, 13 Bristo Square, EH8 9AJ, in the heart of the student quarter. The session starts at 18:00, and entry is free, though you'll need to book your spot through meetup.com beforehand.
