UK tribute band Lizzie & The Banshees plays Siouxsie and the Banshees hits from the Scream to Tinderbox era at La Belle Angele.
Lizzie & The Banshees play La Belle Angele on Saturday 8 May, a Siouxsie and the Banshees tribute presented by Stigmata Promotions. They've been touring the UK and Europe since they formed in 2012, and they describe themselves as the UK's premier and most authentic tribute to the original band.
The set focuses on the Scream to Tinderbox era, when the Banshees were at their most recognisable. You'll hear 'Spellbound', 'Arabian Knights', 'Christine', 'Dear Prudence', 'Hong Kong Garden', 'Happy House' and 'Cities in Dust' — a good run of the songs that defined that period. The band aims to capture the sound, look and feel of the original act at the height of its success, so it's a night built around the material rather than a loose interpretation.
For context, the original Siouxsie and the Banshees formed in London in 1976 around vocalist Siouxsie Sioux and bassist Steven Severin. Rooted in the English punk scene, they moved quickly into a post-punk sound full of rhythmic and sonic experimentation; The Times later called them one of the most audacious and uncompromising musical adventurers of the post-punk era. Lizzie & The Banshees have played four shows at London's 100 Club, including a 50th-anniversary tribute to the 1976 punk festival, and have toured Germany and France.
