Scottish drag superstar Lawrence Chaney brings his new solo stand-up show about weight loss, dating and current affairs to The Stand.
Lawrence Chaney brings their new solo show, Weight A Minute, to The Stand Comedy Club on Wednesday 7 April 2027. It's a stand-up set rather than a drag performance, and the Edinburgh date is one of only two shows in the run, with the other in Newcastle.
If you've followed Chaney's career, you know them as the Glasgow-based drag superstar who won the second series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK — the first Scottish queen to win across the franchise, a victory that picked up a 2021 BAFTA Scotland Audience Award. They've built a reputation for taking jabs at others, but Weight A Minute turns the table. This is a brand-new solo show where Chaney puts themselves in the crosshairs, diving into weight loss, dating and current affairs with zero shame and even less filter. It's a shift in focus: instead of the punchline landing on someone else, the material comes from their own life and observations.
It's a proper stand-up hour, so you'll get Chaney's voice and timing without the drag costumes and choreography. The show runs for about 90 minutes, and since it's one of only two dates, this is the only chance to catch it in Scotland. If you've only seen them on screen or in drag, this is a different way to see them work.
