Free performance by Kayhan Ahura, an Edinburgh-based musician of Persian classical music, at the Mezzanine of the Central Library.
Kayhan Ahura plays at Edinburgh Central Library on Saturday 24 October, as part of the Music on the Mezzanine series. He's an Iranian-born singer, musician and composer now based here in Edinburgh, and the performance will be held on the library's mezzanine.
His work is rooted in the traditions of Persian classical music, with the Persian ney — a traditional end-blown flute — at the heart of his expression. He's been performing for more than 25 years, and in that time he's played in Iran, Athens, London, Yorkshire, Glasgow and Edinburgh. He describes his music as exploring the emotional depth, subtle melodies and timeless beauty of Persian music, bridging ancient traditions and contemporary sound.
