Free group meditation introducing Transmission Meditation, a practice of service and energy work, at The Salisbury Centre.
The Salisbury Centre is hosting an Introduction to Transmission Meditation on Tuesday 10 November, from 19:00 to 20:30, with doors opening five minutes before. It's held in the Salisbury Library part of the centre, at 2 Salisbury Road, Edinburgh EH16 5AB.
Transmission Meditation is a group practice that brings together Karma Yoga, the yoga of service, and Laya Yoga, the yoga of energy and chakras. It was first introduced in 1974 by the artist and author Benjamin Creme, who described it as a simple group meditation that works on two levels at once: it's a dynamic service to the world and a way to support your own spiritual development. The idea behind it is to create a vortex or pool of higher energy for the benefit of humanity, so you're meditating with others rather than on your own.
The sessions are run by Share International, a non-profit, non-denominational worldwide network, and the Edinburgh Transmission Meditation Group. If you find you enjoy it, there's more to get involved with: the venue also programmes a Full Moon With Transmission Meditation, a group meditation and work of planetary service held at the time of the full moon each month.
