Beginner's crochet workshop for ages 14 and over at a Hobbycraft store, with a craft kit provided on the day.
Hobbycraft in Edinburgh is running a Beginner's Guide to Crochet Workshop on Wednesday 28 October. It's a 90-minute session led by one of their own staff, and it's built for complete beginners, so you don't need to have ever picked up a hook before to join in. It's open to anyone aged 14 and over, which means it works as much for a teenager as it does for someone looking for a new hobby later in life.
The best bit is that you don't need to bring your own gear. A crochet craft kit is provided on the day, and you get to take it home along with whatever you've made during the session. It's a self-contained way to get started without having to guess which hooks or yarns to buy first. The workshop is run in-store, so you're learning in the same place you can pick up more supplies once you've got the hang of things.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Edinburgh and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's worth knowing that this isn't a one-off Edinburgh thing. The same format is repeated at 88 Hobbycraft stores across the UK, with different dates and times at each branch. If you're buying a voucher for it, that stays valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, so you've got plenty of room to fit it into your schedule if this particular date doesn't work. The session costs £29, and you'll walk away with the kit and your first crochet project.
