A candlelit night of terrifying true ghost stories from Edinburgh and beyond, with North Edinburgh Nightmares, in a pub in the Old Town.
North Edinburgh Nightmares are taking over The Canons' Gait on Saturday 31 October for Halloween Tales of Terror, an evening of true ghost stories from Edinburgh and beyond. John and Kerrie lead the night, and the whole thing is staged by candlelight in the pub's Old Town setting, so it's a proper Halloween setup rather than just a few stories told over a pint.
The repertoire covers a fair bit of ground. There are the lost boys of the underground city, Edinburgh's baby farmers, and the city's ghost dogs — and they're clear that these aren't Bobby. There's also a first-hand telling of a headless local story that's since found its way into the Horrible Histories series. It's not all just listening, either: the night is open to the room, with guests invited to share their own stories and a reward for the best tale. There's also a chance to buy books from the Edinburgh Ghost Writers Team.
