Halloween session of 'The Anatomist', Escape The Past's immersive historical escape room set in a 19th-century anatomist's study.
The Anatomist is running at Escape The Past from 1 October to 1 November, one of their immersive historical escape rooms. It's set in the basement study of a 19th-century anatomist, Dr Malcolm, who's been procuring bodies for dissection. You search through his journal to solve the mystery of what 'crime' his assistant, Mr Patterson, witnessed that sent him fleeing in fear. The whole thing sits right on the edge of Edinburgh's old surgical district, so it leans into the city's macabre history rather than just using it as a backdrop.
It's not a standard locked-room puzzle. The experience blends an interactive escape game with immersive theatre, authentic historical settings, puzzles, captivating stories and live actors. It's been rated five stars across TripAdvisor, Google Reviews and Facebook, and it's one of several experiences Escape The Past runs. They also have one that lets you outwit the real-life inspiration behind Jekyll & Hyde, and an outdoor trail that follows the footsteps of Burke & Hare through the sites where their crimes took place.
