The smash-hit Broadway and West End musical Hadestown, blending ancient Greek myth with New Orleans jazz, on its first UK and Ireland tour.
Hadestown comes to the Festival Theatre from 15 to 29 June 2027, its first time in Scotland and part of the production's first ever UK and Ireland tour. It's the Broadway and West End musical by singer-songwriter AnaΓ―s Mitchell and director Rachel Chavkin, which picked up eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.
At its heart are two ancient Greek love stories told side by side: the one about the young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and the one about King Hades and his wife Persephone. The music blends that Greek myth with folk-infused New Orleans jazz, and it's a show that's travelled quite a way to get here β seen by over six million people and streamed by nearly a billion. The Guardian called it 'big, beautiful and emotionally blasting', while other critics described it as 'the most exhilarating ride' and 'a sublime five star musical'.

It's a production that started in the US and moved into the West End before this tour, so this is the first time it's played on Scottish soil. The run at the Festival Theatre spans two and a half weeks, from 15 to 29 June, with the venue at 13/29 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh South, EH8 9FT.
