A brand-new production of the Broadway musical Guys & Dolls, directed by James Brining, set against the backdrop of 1950s New York and Havana.
Guys & Dolls opens at The Royal Lyceum Theatre on 26 March 2027, running through to 1 May. It's a brand-new production of the Broadway classic, directed by James Brining, and it's a co-production between the Lyceum and four other Scottish theatres: Aberdeen Performing Arts, Eden Court Inverness, Citizens Theatre and Dundee Rep Theatre. That means it's not just a one-off here; it's being shared across the country.
The story is set against 1950s New York and the heat of Havana, and it follows a cast of gamblers, showgirls and dreamers chasing luck, dodging commitment and discovering that love changes the odds. Two love stories unfold in unexpected ways, and the whole thing is fronted by a large ensemble cast with a live band playing the iconic songs you'll recognise, like 'Luck Be a Lady', 'I've Never Been in Love Before' and 'Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat'. The music and lyrics are by Frank Loesser, with the book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. The production is supported by Walter and Norma Nimmo.
There's a fair bit of accessibility built into the run, too. There's a Patron Night on 6 April, BSL interpretation on 16 April, an Audio Described and Touch Tour on 17 April, and captioning on 20 April, so there are a few different ways to see it depending on what you need.
