Ry Herman presents the Edinburgh launch of 'This Knight Topples Empires', a queer fairytale reimagining, at Lighthouse bookshop.
Ry Herman is back at Lighthouse - Edinburgh's Radical Bookshop on Tuesday 17 November, with the Edinburgh launch of This Knight Topples Empires. It's another quest from Herman, and this one is a raucous, tongue-in-cheek spin on the Eastern European fairy tale The Girl Who Pretended to Be a Boy.
The story follows a knight who sets out to thwart an invasion, save the most beautiful woman in the world, and finally get away from his sisters. Along the way, it's full of botched disguises, accidental heroics, talking animals with surprisingly strong opinions, and one very inconvenient crush on the most sought-after princess in the land. Herman describes the show as a blend of fairytale reimaginings, queer chaos, and cosy fantasy, and it's staged in person at Lighthouse.
